Bissell was inadvertently conceived in 1876 when Melville R. Bissell and his wife, Anna, were looking for a more efficient way to clean sawdust from their shop.
The brand started with a sweeper, then added a carpet cleaner, and eventually found its way into manufacturing vacuum cleaners. Now, many of Bissell’s products, including vacuum cleaners, hard-floor steam cleaners, carpet cleaners, air purifiers and other cleaning solutions, are marketed to pet owners.
